How the calculation works

Playing handicap = (handicap index × slope ÷ 113 + course rating − par) × allowance ÷ 100. In slope-only mode, the course rating − par adjustment is zero.

The allowance is applied to the unrounded course handicap. The final result is rounded to the nearest whole stroke; exact halves round upwards. Plus handicaps use negative values in the maths and display with a + sign.

This calculates an individual 18-hole playing handicap. Team and match-play stroke differences may need further adjustments under your competition’s rules.
